Impact

Since our very first youth program when GPI was still the Darrington Youth Outdoor STEM Pilot Project, we have witnessed first-hand time and again how our programs engage, empower, and connect our youth.

“My experiences as a participant and volunteer with the Glacier Peak Institute (GPI) has substantially strengthened my capabilities as a college student and employee, and has influenced my values and drive to contribute to my local community. The continuous support and educational opportunities the program has offered me has been the foundation for my development as a multi-faceted, accomplished, and resilient individual. The most important thing that I have learned from my involvement in the program is that our local community is essential to our individual well-being and prosperity. After I first participated with GPI in my sophomore year of high school, I still wanted to volunteer my experience and skills to empower the youth of Darrington, providing them the same resource that has meant so much to my happiness and ability to pursue any opportunity. With the help of other communities and individuals, GPI can continue to positively impact the youth in this community who, like myself, need an educational resource and program that provides skills and perspectives that help them navigate between and within communities.”
