Position Summary
The Project Coordinator will support ecosystems, community, and youth, through restoration forestry and aquatic restoration projects on the Mount Baker Snoqualmie National Forest, Outdoor STEM Education, and Workforce Development in the Glacier Peak Region of Western Washington. The position will work with the Darrington Collaborative and Glacier Peak Institute, through meeting facilitation, grant tracking, managing affordable housing for community workforce, hiring and additional duties to support the Darrington community, ecosystems and youth. The Project Coordinator will be a Glacier Peak Institute employee. This is a full-time, 40 hour/ week position.

Glacier Peak Institute
Glacier Peak Institute (GPI) engages rural youth with their environment through outdoor adventures, hands-on projects, and cultural exchanges by developing STEM lesson plans and designing immersive outdoor after-school, summer and work programs. GPI empowers youth to build resilient and sustainable rural communities and healthy ecosystems through innovative, action-based education programs integrating Science, Technology, recreation, Engineering, art, Mathematics, and skill-building (STrEaMs).

Darrington Collaborative
The Darrington Collaborative is a partnership between diverse interests including national and local conservation organizations, local STEM education programs, the local timber industry, and the community of Darrington, with the goal of increasing ecologically sustainable timber harvests in the Mount-Baker Snoqualmie Forest, creating jobs, and improving and restoring the health of forests andwatersheds.

Responsibilities:

Darrington Collaborative Administrative Coordination -50%

Meeting Coordination and Facilitation
● Facilitate weekly Collaborative conference calls
● Provide reminders, draft agendas, notes and action items for weekly calls
● Schedule, attend, provide agendas, notes and track action items for Quarterly Leadership meetings with MBS National Forest leadership
● Represent the Collaborative on monthly Washington Forest Collaborative phone calls and other forestry conferences as appropriate; provide notes to the Collaborative members

Grant and Project Tracking
● Help manage and administer existing grants (i.e., invoices, reporting, etc.); seek and apply to new funding opportunities as appropriate
● Support strategic planning and work planning for the Collaborative

Communication and Marketing
● Update Collaborative website monthly with summary of Collaborative news, events, and project updates
● Draft and send a bi-monthly newsletter
● Maintain and manage Collaborative listservs
● Schedule and handle logistics for Collaborative public meetings and field tours

Glacier Peak Institute Administrative Coordination- 50%

Operations coordination
● Assisting with assigned grant agreements
● Creating and updating documentation (including weekly meeting agendas, outreach materials, class/program materials), working on housing/lease agreements
● Write and submit qualitative and financial reports including grant reports related to work and partner agencies, including (but not limited to) WSU 4-H and AmeriCorps.
● Assist with creating recruitment plans, promotion of jobs, interns and volunteer positions, scheduling interviews, reviewing applicants, communications with applicants and planning onboarding and housing.
● Coordinating documentation and organization of meetings and programs Community Workforce Housing Project
● Explore new opportunities for affordable housing in the town of Darrington
● Support staff and AmeriCorps on housing
● Inspect properties and report maintenance or other needs.
● Support interns with summer housing and the Outdoor Living Site.

Additional duties as assigned and needed may include assisting with fundraising, programs (when needed), warehouse and office maintenance.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
GPI recognizes the full range of a person’s lived and learned experience, professional background, volunteer experience, and direct and transferable skills. The ideal person for this position is a critical thinker and an adaptive team player. They are detail oriented, a clear and direct communicator, and able to manage multiple projects on different timelines. They should present a compelling combination of demonstrated experience and skills in the following areas:

Qualifications:
● Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team; well-organized, thorough and attentive to detail, comfortable multitasking
● Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds, including local stakeholders, donors,
community leaders, Tribes, government officials, and volunteers.
● Familiarity with the nonprofit sector
● Familiarity working with state and federal agencies
● Familiarity with basic forestry terminology, principles, and regulations; experience with NEPA preferred but not required Tech-savvy and able to navigate different software programs. Proficient with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google Suite.
● Experience with ArcGIS

Preferred Qualifications:
● A passion for making a difference in rural communities; working to find common ground solutions from diverse perspectives to natural resource issues; and empowering and connectingyouth, ecosystems, and community
● Strong communication skills and the ability to develop and cultivate authentic relationships
● 2+ years’ experience with project coordination
● Experience writing and managing grants, contracts, and agreements

Work Location: Work may be performed remotely, however frequent travel to Darrington and other areas within Snohomish and Skagit counties may be required. In-person office space will be provided in Darrington by Glacier Peak Institute.

Reports To: Marlena White, Outdoor Workforce Coordinator; Coordinates Darrington Collaborative projects with Anjolene Price, Collaborative Forestry Manager Hampton Lumber with the Darrington Collaborative.

Compensation and Benefits: This is a full-time, regular position paid $25-$30 per hour (depending on experience). Candidates will receive a benefits package including medical, dental, retirement, sick leave, holidays and vacation.
